I’m sure that lots of us have been in this position!
Some dogs don’t enjoy interacting with other dogs. They might be fearful, elderly, unwell, sore, blind, deaf, or just prefer to have their own space.
Some people don’t enjoy interacting with dogs either. They might have a phobia, be elderly, disabled or pregnant and worried about being knocked over, they might have young children, or they might just not like dogs!
Public spaces are for everyone. As dog owners, even if we know our dogs are “just being friendly,” we don’t have the right to impose on others in this way.
If our dogs are still in training, have sketchy recall or struggle to disengage, let’s keep them on a lead and make sure everyone in the park is happy and safe 🐾
