We all have times when we need to leave our dogs at home. As much as we’d like to spend all day, every day with them - this just isn’t practical. As a result, dogs often experience some level of separation anxiety.
When Dylan was a puppy, he really struggled when separated from me. When I’d put my shoes on and head out to work, he’d get so upset and I could hear him crying as I walked away. It was heartbreaking! Issues such as destructive behaviour and indoor toileting also crept in.
Now, when I’m getting ready to go out, Dylan has a very different response, and he’s quite happy to be left at home alone for a while. The key is changing your dog’s conditioned emotional response to the idea of being left. It really works!
If your dog struggles with separation related issues, I can help. Send me a message and we can talk things through 🐾
