Teaching alternative behaviours

It may surprise you to hear that most of the time, our dogs don’t actually WANT to perform the behaviours we see as challenging.

Like most animals, dogs try their best to avoid conflict - full-on fights can be dangerous or even deadly. A dog that uses aggressive responses feels that they have no other option. Therefore it’s our job to show them what we WANT them to do and give them a safe and rewarding alternative.

Shouting at our dogs or punishing them doesn’t help, and it can in fact make things worse. If you need help with your dog’s challenging behaviour, give me a shout 🐾
